About Buda Budi Treks
Visiting Nepal can be fun and often people find it a life changing experience. For others it is just a way to switch off and escape the rat race.
Buda Budi in Nepali means husband / wife as well as couple. Together, Ramesh and Liz bring together years of experience of trekking and many visits to Nepal. After meeting on a trek to Ama Dablam in the Everest region back in 2012, Liz and Ramesh became close and ended up marrying in Australia in 2016.
What makes us different?
One of the major benefits is that we have worked with many of the best guides and porters in the Himalayas and stayed at numerous hotels, tea houses and camping spots. Not to mention helped the local clothing and tea shops in Kathmandu, with a drawer full of pashminas!
We have continued to nurture these friendships and feel it is important to support the local community. Profits from any treks we organize will be directed back to the people on the ground: the guide, porter, yak herder, hotel operator and restaurant/café owner. Their livelihood is dependent on tourism and we feel supporting them, and not big companies with plush offices in cities outside of Nepal, is more important.
There are other options if you want to trek in Nepal: self guided (definitely not advisable – “Missing person” signs appear regularly on the paths!), partial assistance, tea house treks, camping, through to helicopter rides for a posh visit. Depending on your thirst for adventure, age, budget and wish list, we can give you various options to suit.
We also believe the environment must be protected as well, and for all treks we discourage the use of plastics where possible and to support the local villages by eating locally. The Nepalese are brilliant farmers and cultivators of the land and once you have experienced a home made dal bhat (rice and lentil/vegetable curry) you will understand why.
If you want to experience the majestic views, amazing people and delicious food then Nepal is the place for you. Let us organise a holiday for you.
